Gnome Monk on Ick Swamp - can't think of a combination that would put me further out of my comfort zone. At least within hard difficulty, that is. I decided that if I was going out of my comfort zone, I might as well go all the way. I prepped Taurog. Overall it wasn't nearly as rough as I feared. Took my team, and hopped to JJ at the end for my final spellcasting spike. Didn't need Chaos Avatar, though.

Yendor, as usual, makes things a breeze.

That was a fun one! I don't think I've ever actually used the Naga Cauldron before -- actively seeking debuffs never sounded that fun, but today after boosting mana and health with Jehora and then finding one of each keg, I really enjoyed the +20% potions for both bosses. =) As others have mentioned, not sure how I would have done without Yendor, but I like to believe I would have been alright. :?

Well, I don't know about skill decay and reductive play and stuff, but I saw "Gnome" and "Mystera" in the same sentence and I went fireball spam. I kind of ignored being a Monk altogether (had dozens of Corrosion and Curse stacks on me, and was constantly poisoned). The only purchase I made during the level was the misclick protection, even so I almost died on misclicking a BB. I killed one boss at level 5-6-7 (I saved Yendor for this occasion, and it fueled my second level-up) and the other straight at L8. Nevertheless, I had lots of fun, it was less thoughtless due to all the BBs and MMs around.
"Thinker", just without the "ache".

Wow. Haven't seen this many spoons and wisp gems in ages. Too bad I clogged up my inventory with other useful stuff.
I prepped the Cauldron and Yendor, didn't leverage either. Shops had the Venom Dagger and MW, Halpme was close to the entrance, so I ended up ignoring everything else.
Even regenfought Itsssama with close to 1 damage :P
Next run I'll try to not use corrosion shenanigans.
Somebody spilled raspberry juice all over the place!

Damn, second misclick in a row, real disappointed with that. Rats are so much fun to play, and

Gave up half-way through. I generally refrain on commenting on the rat because I don't like him one bit. Whatever that it is that makes him powerful (or even work) takes more effort than even tricky regular stuff does, so he feels more like a chore than anything. I suppose many people feel this way about the Monk, and I certainly feel the same exact way about the Gorgon (and sort of about the Vampire). Meh, now I sound like a whiny hater, but I just kept it to myself because other people seemed to be enjoying him. Heck, one of the reasons i'm completing the playthrough in the old version was to keep them out of the PQI for as long as possible.
I almost got pwned by Shifty Brickwork!

I took a different tack: went Drac late, desecrating EM and buying a burn salve. The blood pools gave me enough health to stack over 100 corrosion on the boss. That's fun! The ninth floor of say VGT sounds like murder, but this at least was cool. I bought the Troll Heart (early to shore up the rat's poor HP), burn salve, a spoon for conversion, and Whrbargl.

I was scared when I saw Grimm's Grotto, but the Bear Mace prep makes it more likely that there'll be an out. And as others noticed, this board wasn't particularly choked.

I do agree that the rat is on the difficult side. Even with a Rat-friendly boss like SMM, this felt tight. I'm not sure how I would have coped with the wraith or warlock bosses.

Now I waited until the boss fight to buy items, conserving my purchases for the full restore effect (went for platemail to survive hits without requiring overheal; Mystera was a mistake with that low max health)
