Until I've read about it in this thread today (after playing the daily), I had no idea that killing the sacrificial goat does something special on this map. I had noticed the sudden appearance of shades before, but I have never been able to figure out that there’s a transformation going on. I always thought this is a random event for this subdungeon that could happen on any map. This is also due to the fact that the goat has always been pretty much the last survivor because of its apparent insignificance.

As for today’s run: I took Binlor for the sorcerer’s challenge from a few days ago where it didn’t work so well and I ended up getting punished all the time. So no Binlor this time. In the end, I decided to see which gods I would find on the map. That turned out quite well, and I had a good time with a mana oriented JJ paladin and a great selection of glyphs.

Oh, of course. I really didn’t think of that. :) And I am wondering right now whether this would have made my GG Paladin VGT run much easier… Oh well.

I like Binlor Palas, and might have taken that approach if the race was Orc, but other combinations can be even more fun. Took conjunction and ended up joining an early EM which worked out fantastically. I stumbled across Pm really soon and thanks to the Tower Shield my PR was maxed out before the bossfight. Plants blocked my non-goat subs and many glyphs, but with such crazy power it didn't matter. I'm glad I didn't go the Binlor route this time, he has not much to offer for a fullresist Pala, but EM's Clearance spam feels like a cheat code.

The absolutely most ridiculous approach today was JJ + Body Pact pactmaker. That's just redonculous, huge stats, huge resists and huge refills.

Also - binlor's punishment doesn't really mean anything to anyone except someone who's really trying to push resists. You can easily do just about any sub-vicious Vicious Token run in the game while getting punished by Binlor every time you kill an enemy. When I want to really rush throgh a random Vicious Token run I prep up a lightly prepped Binlor Pissorf guy and don't even bother moving from Binlor most of the time, so no reason to be afraid of him even if you're not a paladin (and especially if you're just a spellcaster).
I almost got pwned by Shifty Brickwork!

Well, by virtue of doing the Daily at 1 AM, my time is the first, that won't last.

BUT

I had the most fun...

The daily resets at 5:00 PM for me, so honestly doing it the moment it comes up isn't a problem if I want to :-P

I was a mere 10 seconds away from top time. Took me a long while to find BURNDAYRAZ, which was kind of a problem given the vast quantities of mana I'd accumulated. Once I had it, though, a 30 MP tank is going to burn through undead like napalm 8-)

Used JJ/EM dual prep for easy desecration.
