Sort of ran into this during a PQI today. if you got a halfling wizard, with the extra glyph prepared, then you can convert a health potion and get a health potion back. so you get free piety with GG, i suppose its the same for Dracul.

for some reason it stops working after a while though. maybe a built in mechanism to stop exploits like these?

While this is a very good trick for generating piety with GG and Dracul, it's not infinite. The extra CP from the conversion is coming out of your glyphs, and once they are reduced to 0 CP value you will no longer get bonus CP on conversion and the gravy train stops. Highlight the glyphs in your inventory as you convert stuff as a Wizard, and you'll notice their CP value decline each time.
