I'm very keen to see where this goes. I've played through quite a few levels now and it's getting progressively more interesting (though there's a few things I take exception to).
Its emphasis on pre-designed dungeons and a good editor give it a great niche, kinda like DD meets Tower of the Sorceror
I love rip-off copy-cat games. I really do. If I liked an idea the first time, why would I not want it again? Innovation for innovation's sake just is not enough for me. For example, if someone would make a Terraria clone, I'd buy it twice.
Anyways devs, do you want us all to go blast those guys for ripping your concept in their game's comments over and over, or just let it be?
It definitely reminds me of Tower of the Sorcerer more than DD. I'll have to give it a try tonight. I obviously love DD but there is plenty more design space, and I'm curious to see what someone else does with it.
(Although I prefer DD's freewheeling, seat-of-you-pants play to the calculating precision required by either DD's puzzles or Tower of the Sorcerer, so we'll see.)
I couldn't figure out how to pick up the chicken... I must be bad at this.
Y'know, it's easy to cry "rip-off" when you see something like this, but unless its being done in a malicious way I don't think it's worth getting upset over. Honestly it can only increase awareness of Desktop Dungeons in the long run, and that's a good thing.
...and no, I'm not sure how one would maliciously design a game.
