Ok, since we know there is now officially nothing to brag about, I'm re-interpreting this as a kind of "share an interesting/fun/challenging game" type of thread for those who don't have their own proprietary topic for this purpose... 8-)

So today I did a Demonic Library run, and it's not exactly bragworthy, but it was both weird and fun, and ties into several recent discussions, so here goes:

Demonic Library: Human Bloodmage (I blew the other T3s on Purist, Warmonger and a PQI), Hoarder
Preps: Balanced Dagger (pure gold); Smuggler's Den (extra blackspace); Binlor (a.k.a. magnet:PISORF); Slayer Wand (as it's a one-shot); Compression Seal; Extra Mana Boosters; Elite Items (hoping for kegs / yendor as those don't take up space).
I found Binlor's altar on tile 7 and started worshipping him just to get the free PISOFR. I found a random generated PISORF glyph on tile 12. So I was like, (paraphrasing) "oh why didn't I pick JJ instead"? Anyway. So I pushed monsters into walls a bit just to generate Piety. I got to 100 (I only took Stone Form), and scouted about a quarter of the map. My altars were GG and JJ. Which was, like, awesome. I always wanted to play a GG Bloodmage, so I converted into him just for the Humility (more health & base damage - awesome for a PISORF bloodmage). Then I went JJ, sacked Binlor and picked up Petition right away. I spent mana positioning the bosses next to eachother, and health killing the monsters. My shop luck was like a dream; I had both (!) kegs, Yendor, I picked up the Alchemist Scroll just for fun, and found Fine Sword to boot. Not only wasn't Avatar even a challenge, I had so much resources between blood pools and potions and whatnot that afterwards I went around and killed everyone, and still had several potions in my inventory after I finished. I finished at Prestige 5.

I think Bloodmage is really awesome for Demonic Library. I'm not sold on PISORF though. Yes it's awesome to hit 2 bosses at the same time; but at L7, with base damage 35, PISORF does 17 damage, taking 15 castings (60 mana) to fell a demon lord, with collateral another demon lord getting within 1-shot of death; but with fireballs it takes 8*6=48 mana to kill one demon lord, maybe even less if Mystera. So, say, PISORF-ing you spend 64 mana and kill 2 guys; with fireballs you spend 48 mana twice to kill 2 guys, but you can regen in-between. I guess it's balanced, I'm more into the fireballs but PISORF is also cool. What does make PISORF still worthy of consideration, IMHO, is the ability to bypass resistances; by slamming the magic-resist guy into the physical-resist guy, they went down at the same time. Oh, and there is no "Retaliate:PISORF"; arguably, its fireball counterpart is the single most annoying trait in the game... :geek:

Midblowing rollercoaster of a run, a buffet of features used, and a riveting read. Nothing to brag about? That was a hoarder run, which means you were cut off from either being an Orc (blows pissorff straight out of the water) with exactly nothing as a tradeoff, and you were also cut off from purchasing dmg items which also bumps the numbers on Pissorff in it's favour. Also, "leveling" with it can consist of pushing a boss into whatever you were gonna level off anyway and than killing that, dinging, proceeding to push boss into whatever else, etc, etc. But the real thing about that things is what you just said - it works on anything, if you aim to go for pissorff, not only can you prep for it but you it's quite difficult for the game to make you change your plan or miss a beat. If resistances worked, different story.

Big applause, though, I enjoyed reading the report ^^

Also, as for there being nothing to brag about, this wasn't easy:

It was a PQI race/class setup whith the hobblers "only one badge + vicious" added onto it. The badge was DING! Max. You have to fail Cheeky, and you have to fail Unstoppable, and since scumming hobblers is unholy blasphemy you (probably) have to go prepped EM on a cramped map. I'm rather proud of managing it :)

Talk about, taking a challenge (PQI), adding on top of it another challenge (Vicious Token), and topping it with a third challenge (failing everything else). Makes for a super-hard game despite being on the easiest map. Good job, Lujo!

Btw I went back to the Library because the Bloodmage finally felt strong enough to tackle Vicious. It did, but oh did it make me sweat & swear to pull it off! I felt a bit cheeky, having steamrolled the Hoarder badge, and I went back in with a proper race, being sure that I'll steamroll the place again despite the VT. Well hello Tinker, VT is VT, and I caught myself drinking potions to kill Demon Lords, so I had barely anything left when I faced the Avatar. I kept fireballing the guy, and stripped his resists off completely using my Piercing Wand, and it was working quite well. Then I ran out of potions, and started converting stuff. Then I again ran out of potions, and I slurped up all the remaining blood pools. So I kept fireballing (it's something I love doing by the way  ), and then I was counting how many castings it will take. So I ran out of everything except my BURNDAYRAZ, BATTLEMAGE RING and PIERCING WAND, and I was still missing one fireball to finish him. So I went back up to check whether there was anything left - but no, I only left a couple of high-level monsters who were too tough for me now (and mostly they were undead anyway). So I remembered that I had the Monster Den sub! So I went down only to see a single Wraith left (= no blood). Converting both the battlemage ring and the piercing wand would have given me a CP total of 84 (yes I need 90 for a potion). I was like, %*!"*/!! (paraphrasing: it would be so uncool to lose within arm's reach of winning). Then I remembered the Pactmaker!! Hey, Spirit Pact, convert the ring and the wand, get a potion, just enough to cast 1 more fireball! Except, my fireball damage went down, and 1 fireball was no longer enough... Then I remembered that 20 burn stacks are good for something if you can pop them... So I went looking for something that didn't kill me in one shot. Oh man was I super-happy to find that level 1 Wraith again in the monster den... 8-)

EDIT: one thing I seriously misjudged is that while it is true that Bloodmage in general doesn't care much about mana pool, and prefers health, the Gnome of Mystera version does care about mana pool. That magnet:Fireball was almost my undoing in this game. I lost 1 mana with every single restoration (both Refreshments and mana potions), and I had a lot of those. At least I learned something today.

Wonderful wins Lujo and Tinker!

Tinker, the story how you pulled off the win was very entertaining too! Amazing how close you were to defeat but thanks to creativity you still won. I love this tendency of the game that on the hardest scenarios victory is only achieved barely by expending the last of resources.
