20/06/2015 - Orc Tinker in Magma Mines
So, this was a less than graceful run on my part. My inability to find BURNDAYRAZ sufficiently early hampered me considerably, and then I converted WEYTWUT just before discovering the 8th level Goblin blocking access to one of the minor bosses. Oh, and I converted LEMMISI before checking the subdungeon, too. Well, no matter; the double prep of Binlor and JJ made getting Petition largely painless and I was able to build up large amounts of popcorn with WEYTWUT. In the end I just had too much momentum for the bosses to handle.

Decided to put some extra constraints because I'm more likely to lose due to laziness and misclicks than having a little extra challenge. Today I went for exploring the whole topside map before killing anything. With the JJ, Binlor, Drac combo I managed to get petition without any punishments and then just big-bars the bosses to death. Didn't need to dip into Dracul or potions in the end.

Are the maps the same for everyone? I see some people had the Weytwut glyph. That didn't show up on my map. I had Mystera as well for one of the gods and didn't see that mentioned.

Just out of curiosity....what monster was in the middle of that big subdungeon...was there some way to get there (and get all that extra mana)?

The maps are the same, though altar and shop preps will make them slightly different - people have the Weytwut glyph because they prepared JJ and he hands you a free one if he's the first god you worship. Mystera didn't turn up for me because I had three altars prepped.

Decided to go in altarless, with a bunch of useful trinkets, and see where that leads me. It lead me to a fun Mystera -> JJ play. I left the dungeon with close to 100 gold after buying everything in store, so money was totally not an issue. Shop spawn was OK though I would've loved a Mana Pendant (that's what I get for not starting in JJ - but I was totally bored of him, as lately I've probably played more JJ games, than non-JJ games...). The bosses were crammed together, and good thing I kept PISORF to move some monsters around, because one of the henchmen was actually hiding in a corner! So I decided to punish him for this and killed him first...

I did this one sleepy because it didn't sound hard. I was a little thin on blackspace at the end, not counting the generous subdungeon. It took way too many LEMISI casts to find all three bosses. No altar preps, and Troll Heart was really a strain until I could convert it. Mystera into JJ was a bit of a pain to go through, but it eventually paid off - only got two mana boosters from Mystera before converting into an instant Petition, but I never got Chaos Avatar.

Anyway, Whurrgarbl let me regen-duel two lvl5 slimes at level 3, so that finally gave me some momentum. +5 mana from gods eventually made Witchalok Pendant into a pretty winning item. I probably should've picked up Fire Heart, but early on I had Troll Heart, and later on it felt too late. I also should have auto-converted Stone Heart as soon as I saw it.

It was a good thing that I held onto my transmutation seals, because it was a bit tricky getting to the bosses.

I took forever today, but I was distracted and tired. Had three health potions left over. It felt sloppier than it probably was. Nothing too bad happened, but it's not really that hard of a map either once you understand how it works - specifically, the first henchman's death brings the other one down to 1HP, whichever you kill first. So it's even more important than ever to reveal both of them before you start fighting them.

21/06/2015 - Gorgon in Shifting Passages
Oh boy, today's is a doozie. With Aequitas as the second boss, the Gorgon is in for trouble. Even with Blood Shield and the Elven Boots and overheal I was unable to survive being 1-shotted and had to blast him with spellcasting power. In the end, I converted to Tikki Tooki and spent my gold for reflex/quicksilver to bring Aequitas down, then finished him with the Badge of Courage. Extremely close game; wish I'd gone with the Mystera prep instead.

Today is also Astral's 100th streak game. A suitable final challenge, I think. I've got the party balloons ready ^_^

Weird, I made a reply, but lost it due to logout.

Anyway, this was tricky. Mystera might have been better than Elven Boots, but the boots did make some Dragonspawn into bonus XP when they otherwise would be bad targets.

I spammed IMAWAL with Earthmother a lot, and Zotted Aequitas with less blackspace remaining than I wanted - I never can seem to get enough use out of those damned orbs of Zot. Because there weren't many blood pools, I was only able to get 30 mana recovery from EM before I had to finish off with mana potions. Evolvia was still around, mind you.

Converted to TT and killed some popcorn for two Reflexes boons (two-shotting is actually the best way to go for an unprepped TT when you have poisonous strike - fast piety there). That and a Yendor from all the IMAWAL-ENDISWAL combos were barely enough to get me through the last boss.

Definitely a tough run. I never felt out of the woods until the end. Maybe plain old Mystera into TT would've worked better. The bonus XP seemed to help, though.

Failed this one. In hindsight, this was a pretty bad match-up only somewhat mitigated by the good item choices offered.
