My kingdom coffers got depleted from 85k to sub-10k due to my extravagant spending recently (lots of scumming for Heretinfinite and for the Lv1 Troll Greenblood method etc, among other things), so I've been farming gold in Curious Northern Desert as a Troll. It took a lot of attempts and I needed to tweak the program several times to make it not mess up and die an hour in and it relied on certain gods, but in the end I was able to get 7k gold an hour, at least for the first few hours.

I just tried it with Vampire instead and got 30k gold in like ten minutes after the initial setup. And if anything were to go wrong from running it longer, it would just stop fighting without getting itself killed. And being Vampire it's obviously not god-dependent at all. Wow this approach is so much better, I should not have let my affinity for Troll and lack thereof for Vampire dissuade me for so long.

EDIT: Also, Curious Endless Blizzard is amazing. Finally made it to the end boss, only got halfway through but I'll keep trying! Love the visuals on that fight too, such a nice touch.

We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

Thanks for your advice! I think you're spot on about the earlygame. I'm going to skip prepping Flame Magnet in favor of Extra Mana Boosters (maybe Extra Health Boosters???), because even with no fireball and a useless codex, Sorcerer + any spell can stomp through the first few levels via Essence Transit, and heavy fireballs aren't great for farming Mystera piety. Oof, though, that last-tile BURNDAYRAZ sounds awful and is exactly why I took Flame Magnet, pretty sure that'd be a reset.

Picking up potions is definitely a mistake, I really need to break the habit of double-clicking every potion I see. In that run I instantly regretted it. I should also be more careful with piety sparkles, I try to avoid picking up too many of them needlessly (for exactly the reason you said!), but it's not always at the front of my mind and I get careless with it. I also tend to rank "avoid picking up piety sparkle" a lower priority than "pick up thing on ground that piety sparkle is on", which is not always correct.

Sounds like a sweet run! I don't think you needed Platemail there, Witchalok and Fire Heart are the other two great defensive items and, despite being weaker than Platemail early on, they scale really well to tower floors 7-9. (It would have helped against Horatio though!) Not finding any non-Binlor ways of removing resistances is a pain, but at least if you've taken Mystic Balance ENDISWAL is almost as good as BYSSEPS for getting that done (it costs slightly more mana and slightly less health).

I'd love to see a video of your run if you have it! The Extra Attack Booster prep makes it sound like, even though we both went Gnome Sorcerer of Mystera with Avatar's Codex, we still had very different playstyles during the run.

Now, if you think my neglecting attack boosters is bad, watch me desecrate Tikki Tooki at level 1 as a Codex Sorcerer in Curious VGT

...even though I have my reasons, that desecration is a bad move and I get super punished for it down the line, and I certainly don't end up winning. But I do manage to which is way further than I ever expected I'd be able to get without infinite shenanigans. Even though it's a loss, I feel like it's still worth posting because, hey, it's Curious VGT, even reaching Horatio is an accomplishment?

Ironically, here I got in trouble by not picking up potions on sight: on the golem-spawner floor, the spawns blocked me from getting to the mana potions I needed downstairs.

I'm going to try some more Sorcerer Codex Curious VGT runs, I want to see how far I can push this!

EDIT: Got even further this time!

Just wanted to report that the game crashed when I tried to start the quest in Hobbler's Hold where you must kill 4 guests (I presume this quest to earn the Boss Parade prep). Hit Report, but I'm not sure if it generated a file of any sort.

Nothing new for me to report on EE, since I got side-tracked with other games. Cleared Phantom Citadel with Rat first try, finally did most of the North, and got a Purist Dragon Isles victory with Dwarf Rogue in vanilla DD.

Every time the "hiding under something" bug happens it amuses me way too much.

In this case, it turns out killing an upstairs enemy by popping a burning stack while downstairs causes all the golems to move around, possibly standing on the entrance stairs. I suspect this is even possible in the base game at Hexx Ruins, but the much smaller area of the Gaan-Telet floors (along with the fact that "don't bother killing the spawns" is much more possible here than in Hexx) makes it much more likely to come up here.

If you don't mind spoiling, what kind of optimizations are you making for this run? I haven't ever bothered to try and map out which monsters are ideal when, etc.
